Wednesday evenings at The Oxford Retreat!\n– Improver and beginner classes start at 7.30pm\, please be prompt!\n– Social dancing runs until midnight\nThe Oxford Retreat are fully open on Wednesday evenings\, so please do join us for a drink and chat before or after the social or even check out their kitchen!!\n******\nOn Wednesday we have a 2 levels of salsa classes as usual starting at 19.30. Everyone’s welcome. You don’t need a partner and the dress code is just casual evening wear.\nBeginners: learn the basics of timing and movement\, as well as some fundamental salsa moves! (we recommend 6 weeks at this level before moving up).\nImprovers/intermediate: This class is suitable for improver-level dancers onwards and will teach you turn patterns with a strong focus on great technique and connection. We love teaching you the tricks for keeping your dancing controlled and getting you ready for busy dance floors!\n**Party:**\nFrom 20.30 the party will be kicking off! Then our fab DJs\, Julian and Gwyneth\, will be playing the best Salsa and Bachata tunes.\nApproximately once a month\, because our fab team needs a break sometimes\, the night will be taken over by Sergio Fernandez who will teach a improver level *BACHATA* lesson and then DJ for us (50/50 salsa and bachata from 9pm\, with a dash of kizomba).\nThe whole evening is only £6 (or £4 OUSS members).\nSee you there!\n[[Venue is wheelchair accessible but function room is not. Toilets are also on ground level but not disabled toilets. Seating is available. Not currently equipped with hearing loop capabilities. Is typically very crowded]]

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a dynamic and immersive percussion workshop with Tristan Butler\, leader of Timba Británica! \nTristan will guide us through the essential rhythms of salsa percussion\, breaking down the beats that make this music so dynamic. Whether you’re a dancer\, musician\, or simply love Latin music\, this is your chance to deepen your understanding of salsa’s rhythmic foundation. \nThis interactive workshop will take you on a journey through the core instruments and rhythms that bring salsa to life. You’ll get hands-on experience playing clave\, guiro\, campana\, bongos\, congas\, and maracas\, exploring how each instrument contributes to the layered\, vibrant sound of salsa. By the end\, you’ll have a new appreciation for the intricate grooves that drive the dance floor! \nNo prior experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm! If you have your own percussion instruments\, feel free to bring them along. \n🕑 When: Sunday 27th April🏠 Where: Arts at the Old Fire Station\, Loft⏳ Duration: 2-hour class\, doors open at 1:30 PM\, workshop runs from 2 PM to 4 PM.
