SUMMARY:Salsa Musicality\, Timing and Percussion with Mauricio Reyes
DESCRIPTION:The fantastic Mauricio Reyes will lead this one-off musicality\, timing and percussion workshop. \nThis will be an Open Level session\, suitable for all salsa levels. We will be exploring how the polyrhythmic nature of Salsa & clave-based music directly impacts how we dance it\, and the variety of rhythms & timings that we use to closely interpret the various styles. It’s about listening\, feeling & interpreting the music\, making it an even more enjoyable/rewarding experience for all levels\, by being more connected to the music\, and ultimately becoming a better dancer. \nThe workshops will be augmented with live percussive rhythms to help you get a better feel. If you have your own Latin percussion instruments\, do bring them! \nThe workshop will run from 2-4pm\, doors open at 1.45pm. \nTickets £14 (£12 OUSS) – £2 discount before 15th February! \n\n\n \n  \nMuévete Events (Gwyneth) is supported by the Early Career Promoter Fund which is managed by PRS Foundation and funded by Arts Council England using Supporting Grassroots Music funding from DCMS. Funding supports La Rumba III festival as well as surrounding events on musicality and dance. \nMuevete events are inclusive events. Curious about how small adjustments can make a big difference? \nPlease join us THIS WEDNESDAY at 6:30pm at the Oxford Retreat for a special one-off\, zouk-educated head movements bachata workshop with Brennan & Kira! We will focus on theory and drill techniques that will make upper body movements in bachata much softer\, more comfortable\, and more aesthetically pleasing for everyone involved. Wednesday evenings at The Oxford Retreat!\n– Improver and beginner classes start at 7.30pm\, please be prompt!\n– Social dancing runs until midnight\nThe Oxford Retreat are fully open on Wednesday evenings\, so please do join us for a drink and chat before or after the social or even check out their kitchen!!\n******\nOn Wednesday we have a 2 levels of salsa classes as usual starting at 19.30. Everyone’s welcome. You don’t need a partner and the dress code is just casual evening wear.\nBeginners: learn the basics of timing and movement\, as well as some fundamental salsa moves! (we recommend 6 weeks at this level before moving up).\nImprovers/intermediate: This class is suitable for improver-level dancers onwards and will teach you turn patterns with a strong focus on great technique and connection. We love teaching you the tricks for keeping your dancing controlled and getting you ready for busy dance floors!\n**Party:**\nFrom 20.30 the party will be kicking off! Then our fab DJs\, Julian and Gwyneth\, will be playing the best Salsa and Bachata tunes.\nApproximately once a month\, because our fab team needs a break sometimes\, the night will be taken over by Sergio Fernandez who will teach a improver level *BACHATA* lesson and then DJ for us (50/50 salsa and bachata from 9pm\, with a dash of kizomba).\nThe whole evening is only £6 (or £4 OUSS members).\nSee you there!\n[[Venue is wheelchair accessible but function room is not. Toilets are also on ground level but not disabled toilets. Seating is available. Not currently equipped with hearing loop capabilities. Is typically very crowded]]
